Internship Program
Fall 2024 - Spring 2025
Our internship program provides an environment for young leaders to consider their vocational direction while gaining meaningful work experience in a nonprofit setting. We treat interns as team members and as part of the “Blood:Water family.” This level of trust requires that we use great discretion in the application and interview process. Please take this application process seriously and know that the staff of Blood:Water look forward to getting to know you and accept interns with great intentionality.
An applicant can apply for the 9-month internship term (September through May) and/or a summer internship (12-15 weeks). Specific beginning and end dates will be determined by the availability of the candidate. Each internship requires 15-20 hours per week based in Nashville, TN, and includes a monthly stipend of $800 for this term.
We are offering two internships for Fall 2024 - Spring 2025:
- Donor Relations and Communications
- Graphic Design and Marketing
Please read the brief descriptions below. You are welcome to apply for both internships if your education and experience are a fit for both.
DONOR RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP
Blood:Water is looking for a creative, organized individual to intern with our development team as we are cultivating and stewarding relationships with donors. Potential applicants must be prepared to manage both daily tasks as well as larger scale projects throughout the internship term. The position also has some flexibility in self-initiated projects with support from relevant staff. Writing experience is required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with donors in daily email correspondence
- Working with the Development Team to brainstorm, plan, and implement a variety of communication tools and methods
- Writing letters, speaking over the phone, and answering emails to support our donors, including members of our monthly donation plan, The Fuel
- Assistance with event logistics and support as applicable
- Opportunities to pursue projects of interest and grant research
- Writing support (blogs, social media, etc.)
- Assistance with Blood:Water (online) store management
GRAPHIC DESIGN & MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Blood:Water is looking for a creative, self-motivated individual to intern with our marketing team as we communicate with donors and communities via campaigns, social media, web content, video, and design. Potential applicants must be prepared to manage both daily tasks as well as larger scale projects throughout the intern term. Graphic Design proficiency is required. Basic social media experience is preferred.
Responsibilities will include:
- Creating graphics and visuals for websites, social media platforms, and other digital channels with Blood:Water's branding guides that support our marketing and fundraising teams.
- Collaborating with the marketing and development department and to build Blood:Water’s social media presence, including creating content for posts, running online giveaways, creating and facilitating social media contests, engaging with Blood:Water’s online audience, and more
- Supporting Blood:Water’s online presence, including helping with website and blog content
